IPAX/STX Basic Training

The IPAX Basic Training Class is designed to introduce the attendee to the range of functions performed by this class-4 tandem switch. The sections taught in the class are:

Introduction
    The class starts out with an introduction to the STX/IPAX including basic functions such as:
  • Log on and off
  • Navigate through the menus and screens
  • Add, delete, search for, and modify files
  • Work within the command line interface
  • Read log files
  • Receive on-line help
  • Contact NACT Technical Support
System Setup
    This section reviews many of the configuration settings that must be made to a newly installed system. Many of them form a basis for creating products and controlling usage. Topics include:
  • Country/City/Cellular code maintenance
  • WZ1 V&H maintenance
  • System Default ANI and Time Zone
  • Currencies
  • Limits Tables
  • Blocking Tables
  • Alarm Maintenance and Notification
Real-time Call Rating
    Real-time rating is at the heart of prepaid phone products. This section reviews the rating configuration process. Attendees will be able to load rates and perform testing and troubleshooting on them. Included in this section is instruction on: Create new rate tables, rate schedules, applicable taxes, and override specifications
  • Assign rate schedules to multiple destinations
  • Define rating charge periods
  • Testing real-time rates prior to rate implementation
  • Troubleshoot common rating errors
Voice Maintenance
    Many products require prompting through the call process. Others call for customized messages. This section of the class covers:
  • Use and application of basic voice messages as supplied by NACT
  • Requisition of custom audio recordings to the application of customized messages
  • Different levels of voice application within the switch/gateway
  • Troubleshoot problems that occur on each level
Routing
    In this section the student will learn to define carriers and connection with those carriers. Also included in this section: Create Trunk Groups and assign Trunks (circuits) to those Trunk Groups
  • Create Route Tables
  • Monitor Routing Activity
  • Locate and resolve routing alarm messages
Switch Maintenance
    The class ends with a section that covers basic problem solving techniques within the IPAX/STX. Items taught in this section include:
  • Following a daily maintenance checklist
  • Verify that backups are being performed on a regular basis
  • Routine Monitoring
  • System Power
  • Software Upgrades

At the end of the training course a certification test is presented to the students. The test is not mandatory but those that take it and achieve a minimal score of 85% receive a certificate indicating the student as being competent and able to manage and configure the STX/IPAX switch/gateway to NACT standards. All students that attend the class will receive a certificate of participation.
