NTS Basic Training
The NTS basic training class is designed to introduce the attendee to the range of functions performed by the NTS billing system on its GUI client interface. The class covers the following topics:
Introduction
- This section introduces the student to the GUI client interface and provides a resource list for attendees to get more information after the course is complete.
- Log on and off the NTS
- Navigate NTS menus
- Add, delete, search for, and modify NTS records
- Access on-line help on the NTS
- Documentation resources
- Contacting Technical Support
System Setup
- This section reviews some of the configuration settings that must be made to a newly installed system. They form a basis for creating products and organizing your customer information. Topics include:
- Billing groups
- Currencies
- Tax types
- Print types
- Dialing plans
Rating
- Postpaid rating is at the heart of carrier cost analysis and all products where the NTS maintains the user balance. This section teaches the student how to create and apply rating in the NTS.
- Create rate plans
- Load rate schedules
- Assign rate schedules to destinations
- Define rating time periods
- Assign rate plans to customers and carriers
- Troubleshoot rating
Accounts
- This section teaches the attendee how to create billable entities. Topics include:
- Create account defaults (product templates)
- Add accounts
- Apply credit limits
Authorization Codes / ANI/CLI
- This is the information used by the switch to identify and validate users and later return call records. This is also where product features, privileges and fraud control are defined. Topics include:
- Create authcode defaults (product templates)
- Add authcodes/ANIs
- Authcode/ANI features
- Update user information to the switch
- Enable and Disable authcodes/ANIs
Billing Cycle
- The purpose of a billing system is to bill. This section takes the student through the customer billing cycle. Topics include:
- Pre-invoice checklist
- Creation and application of miscellaneous transactions
- Billing unload & recovery
- Invoice generation
- Payment entry
- Billing and payment log files
Prepaid Calling Cards
- In addition to postpaid products, the NTS is used provision and manage prepaid products. This section focuses on NACT's most popular product: mass-generated prepaid calling cards. Topics include:
- Add lots
- Generate prepaid calling cards
- Update prepaid calling cards to the IPAX
- Enable/Disable prepaid calling cards
- Perform customer service on prepaid calling cards
- Export prepaid calling cards from the database for printing
